The sub 3-hour marathon.
Aside from qualifying to run the Boston Marathon, running a marathon in under three hours is seemingly the next biggest goal for the everyday runner.
The plan here at "Chasing Sub3 Marathons" is not to tell one how to - as there are plenty of sites that can (and I never could), but rather to be the statistical home of all of those who chase that goal one time -- or many.
According to Joe Bowman's sub3marathoner.com site, the first six known runners, for example, to run a sub 3-hour marathon in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia are as follows:
Toby Skinner
Joe Bowman
David Audet
Chuck Engle
Gary Krugger
Jerry Rief
The site was last updated in January 2015 after Jerry completed his 50 plus DC with a 2:53:53 finish at the Chevron Houston Marathon.
It's commonly known that I have helped Chuck Engle, the Marathon Junkie, compile his career list of marathon finishers.
As of March 18, 2019, Chuck has run a sub 3-hour marathon in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia twice and is just eight states shy of a third.
My goal is to help keep up with all of those pursuing the goal in all of its various flavors.
Thanks for stopping by!
